Depends on what you want to use the unit for.  If you're looking at a strictly ice fishing unit, I would save my money for the Vexlar, or look for one used after the season.  The flashers are definitely the way to go for hard water fishing because of their instantaneous feed.

The unit you're looking at is a great choice for the money for open water fishing.  The graphics look nice and I believe you will be very happy with this unit in your boat.

Good luck with your decision.

I agree. The lower model Lowrance's are better bang for buck over some humminbirds.  They also have some great low budget models. Look into the Humminbird 550. Here is a link to BPS. http://www.basspro.com/

That is a great price, if you only want to use it on the boat. I'm afraid you'll be greatly disappointed if ice fishing with it was planned. I replaced my vexs' with a m68 ( same as x67, but with GPS ) to hardwater fish, and put it on the bow of the boat in the spring. I fished 3 vexs' over 25 years and I like that little Lowrance over the vexilar. Just my .02 hope it helps.
